York's big finish gives No. 18 Arizona comeback win over Cal

With this win, Arizona has more than likely sealed up a first round bye in next week's Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas.

"I'm not someone who's always about myself, but for me, this would probably be No. 1", York said, "a very hostile team that we lost to last time and I missed the game-winning shot, so I had a little chip on my shoulder coming into this game". That added dimension has made him a more complete player and Cal a much more hard team to defend.

"The different people saying that at the end of the game Gabe hasn't necessarily come through, that maybe you need to give the ball to somebody else, et cetera", Miller said. Arizona avoided its first three-game losing streak since February 13-25, 2010.Cal center Kameron Rooks scored on a follow shot and a layup when the Bears used a 12-4 run to take a 19-10 lead eight minutes into the game while the Wildcats missed 8 of 9 field goal attempts. Bird's tip-in with 1:12 left was the final basket of the half and the Bears led 29-25.

Rallying to beat Cal was especially satisfying for Arizona because for awhile it looked like the Wildcats were headed for their second home loss of the season.

Arizona forward Ryan Anderson scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his 14th double-double of the season, and center Kaleb Tarczewski had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Except to guard York closely outside the 3-point line.

If Arizona, Cal and Colorado ended up in a three way tiebreak, Colorado wins by virtue of being 2-1 against Arizona and Cal, while Cal and Arizona end up 2-2. "It was a poor job of our part chasing him off the screen". York hit his 3 and Tarczewski made two free throws after Wallace's driving layup with seven seconds left was no good. "He can't catch and shoot a 3-pointer".

"There's a lot of responsibility that you feel and to watch him bounce back from last week's performance, his own and our team's, and do what he did... he had 19 points in the second half against an incredible defensive team". Wallace, who entered Thursday as Cal's No. 2 scorer behind Brown, was also limited with fouls and finished 5-for-12 from the floor. The Bears have outscored the opposition by almost 15 points per game and won six games by double figures.

Rabb hit the first 3-pointer of his career on his first attempt to give Cal a 54-50 lead with 3:18 remaining, and guard Jordan Mathews made two free throws on the next possession for a 56-53 lead.

The Bears (21-8, 11-5) have climbed to third place in the Pac-12 standings entering Thursday's game at fourth-place Arizona, the preseason favorite.

Arizona, considered one of the best rebounding teams in the country, was outrebounded 44-31, including 18-11 on the offensive boards.

So was it possible for the Wildcats to actually lose two games in their home arena in the same season for the first time since 2013?
