Authorities were still trying to determine what prompted Monday's shooting. Weslayan remains closed to traffic while officers investigate.
The gunman was known to law enforcement, officials said, and several guns were found in the man's auto. Ready would not describe those weapons. The Porsche in question is registered to Nathan Desai. Houston police said they have found no connection to terrorism.
Apparently the police initially apprehended a black man, so witnesses reported him as a suspect.
All of his victims survived but one person was critically wounded and five others were hospitalised, Houston's Acting Police Chief Martha Montalvo said.
Meanwhile, a number of Yelp reviews have resurfaced of DeSai's law firm, with people posting negative comments about the service.
Houston lawyer Nathan DeSai opened fire in the centre early Monday morning, hitting six people at random. His father said that DeSai was anxious that his new law practice was not going well; his longtime law firm had closed in February due to economic conditions. McDaniel & DeSai had a general practice, McDaniel said, but he's concentrated on criminal defense since the split.
"I'm reading stuff online talking about how he was possibly a fired employee that was disgruntled", McDaniel said. The gunman was reportedly well-known to police. "We are checking every angle, I can assure you".
Police believe DeSai acted alone in the shootings. ABC13 has confirmed that Nazi materials found inside the vehicle registered to DeSai.
Calls placed to phone numbers connected to DeSai and his father were not answered.

"He deals with amusing people and criminally-minded people and you don't know if something goes wrong, if they're going to be upset at you", his father said.
"He got out of his auto, we hugged, we cried", Molleda said, adding that after she saw everything, she believes DeSai was "aiming to kill". DeSai had lived at the complex since at least 2004, according to property records.
