Former GOP Sen. John Warner endorses Hillary Clinton

Several other former high-ranking Republicans have already endorsed Clinton over Trump including diplomat John Negroponte, who served under President Ronald Reagan and President George W. Bush, and Brent Scowcroft, national security advisor under Presidents Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush.
The event is being held in Alexandria.
Warner, who remained popular among his Virginia constituents throughout his five terms, said he's been "distressed" by comments Trump has made about the state of the military and about military families. Mark Warner over Republican challenger Ed Gillespie in 2014.

Forbes, who ends his 16-year House career in January after losing a GOP primary in a nearby congressional district, said he respects Warner and Clinton but Trump is the better choice.
