The Nationals will look to clinch the NLDS at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday at 5:00 PM EDT.
The Los Angeles Dodgers host the Washington Nationals in Game 3 of their National League Division Series on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.
"This was pretty much a must-win game for us", Werth said. "We really, really, really needed those runs".
"We're not afraid of this", rookie manager Dave Roberts said.
Tomlin allowed two runs on four in five-plus innings. The veteran catcher then smoked a 3-1 fastball over the fence to score himself and Joc Pederson, who got on with a one-out single. "It's luck or whatever it is".
Dodgers rookie Corey Seager continued his first-inning success in the series, hitting an RBI double off the wall for a 1-0 lead after homering in the first inning of Games 1 and 2.
"Obviously, you'd like to see your big guy", Seager said. "We had some momentum, but couldn't keep it". He was told they hadn't made a decision either.
Previous game: After the Dodgers scored two quick, early runs, the Nationals responded by taking the lead off of a three-run homer by Jose Lobaton, followed by two RBI singles from Daniel Murphy. "If they call me Dusty, I just wave". "I've been taught to stay within myself ever since I was young".
Coco Crisp hit a two-run homer Allen got four outs, escaping jams in the eighth and ninth.
Maeda gave up four runs and five hits in three innings. When he did announce Roark as his Game 2 starter, Baker said it had been decided all along.
Cleveland closer Cody Allen hung on in the last two innings, and the Indians beat the Boston Red Sox 4-3 Monday night to complete a three-game sweep of their AL Division Series. His three innings on Monday was the second shortest start in Dodgers postseason history (Odalis Perez 2.2IP in 2004). An offense that ambushed normal Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen in the ninth is sort of relaxing, too.
Game 3 features Gio Gonzalez for Washington and Kenta Maeda for the Dodgers. During the season Gonzalez had a record of 11-11 while Maeda was 16-11.
"Sometimes when you face a pitcher like him, you feel comfortable at the plate", Ruiz said of facing Gonzalez who he also homered off of on April 27.
UKIP's Woolfe offers hand of friendship to fellow MEP after punch-up
Hookem warned that if he was disciplined as a result of the party investigation, Woolfe would also have to face action. A friend added: "In the meeting, Mr Woolfe told Mike that they should go outside and deal with this man on man".
A Dodgers team with the worst batting average and OPS against lefties in all of baseball during the regular season managed to make things interesting Monday, it just was not almost enough.
But it matters little if the Dodgers lose Game 4.
The Dodgers hit.213 against lefty pitching, by far the worst in major league baseball, and nobody seems to know why.
"I'm hoping this is our year", Werth said. "They haven't done anything different, they've just outplayed us".
In the top of the ninth, Werth put another run on the board for Washington with a solo homer to left field. But the game played out like a daylong blackjack session. "So that ball doesn't get out, I don't think I can do it".
But first - they have to get there.
The series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 this afternoon, with Game 4 there Tuesday, creating an unusual three-consecutive-days setup in the playoffs, thanks to the loss of a travel day. Clayton Kershaw completed five in Game 1.
Coco Crisp hit a two-run homer. Carlos Ruiz would later hit a pinch-hit homer for the trailing Dodgers in the fifth to tighten the game at 4-3.
Ruiz grounded out as a pinch hitter in Game 2, his only other at-bat in the series.
This was only the bottom of the fifth, the game already more than two hours old.
The Dodgers and Nationals game is scheduled to start at 4:00 P.M. Eastern.
Reliever Sammy Solis (1-0) worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the Nationals, who grabbed a 2-1 series lead and can wrap up the best-of-five affair Tuesday in Los Angeles.
