New HBO series stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman

The trailer for Big Little Lies, pretty much. "What's out there? Monsters?" a young girl asks Witherspoon as she peers across the Pacific. The motif in the trailer: The ocean. Watch the show's first teaser trailer below. Vallée is known for directing "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Wild". We will see in the movie that the ideal Southern California lives of the trio will begin to unravel.

Along with small secrets being revealed throughout the story, it all leads up to who is behind the murder that happens during the school's anticipated Trivia Night-and the killer will shock you.

Moriarty's book description says that Madeline is a newly divorced mom whose children ends up in the same class as her ex-husband and his new wife's daughter. What people do not know is that Celeste is dealing with various family issues that will make her collapse soon or later. Jane is a single mother who's new to the town.

The series, based on the novel by Sydney author Liane Moriarty, will premiere on HBO next year. Besides the three ladies, the Big Little Lies cast also includes Alexander Skarsgaard, Adam Scott and Laura Dern and will be a limited-run HBO mini-series.
