"I've only been divorced twice, you could you say".
But he said "I've changed my mind" about retirement.
Collins said: "I play with my fingers, and that's where the dexterity has gone".
British musician Phil Collins is returning to the stage with his first set of live shows in almost 10 years, saying his children helped him cut his retirement short.
Phil Collins is officially back. "They've clammed up, and I'm hoping to get the strength back in them", he explained.
"It's when everything stopped that I thought, okay, I'll turn on the television, watch a bit of cricket, have a couple of drinks".
However Collins said it was unlikely he would play the drums himself and that he would "just be singing", due to the nerve damage he has suffered in his hands.

The team had also inspected the Cauvery basin in Karnataka and will be submitting its report to the Supreme Court on Monday. Leader of opposition in the Assembly and DMK Treasurer, MK Stalin was among those who participated in the protests.
Collins also admitted during the Q&A that he will only be well enough to sing during his 2017 shows, with his 15-year-old son Nicholas taking his place on the drums. "But thanks to the fans, my family and support from some extraordinary artists I have rediscovered my passion for music and performing". "I'm living with my young kids".
The gigs will not be Phil's first since retirement, as he gave a brief performance at the U.S. Open tennis championships in August (16), and has also returned to the stage for a Florida fundraiser for his Little Dreams charity in March (16).
The former drummer and then later frontman of Genesis made released his solo debut album, "Face Value" back in 1981.

"A lot of people tend to see me as shiny BMW music if the truth be known", he said. "I wouldn't rule it out". The German dates start in Cologne on 11 and 12 June with the Paris dates the following week. Tickets go on sale Friday at 9 a.m.
His memoir Not Dead Yet: the Autobiography will be published this week by Penguin Random House.
