Will the Saints pull off the small upset today when they host the Panthers at 1:00PM ET in a battle of NFC South rivals?
Newton has struggled this season, but playing New Orleans could prove to be a ideal elixir.
Newton's injury occurred while he was attempting a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter of his team's Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers came back from a 1 and 3 start under Ron Rivera in 2013 to go on to an 8-game winning streak to capture the first of their three straight NFC South Championships.
PANTHERS defense has struggled to get a pass rush and is surrendering 27 points per game after allowing about 19 a year ago. Derek Anderson failed to lead the team in the 17-14 loss though it was the mediocre defense the Panthers showed which many felt did them in, Fox Sports reported.
Now bring in the Saints, who get to play this one at home.
But Williams and the Panthers relish the opportunity to face Brees, even if they are undermanned and desperate for a win.

"Yeah, I mean, those are starting elite players - two Pro Bowl players", Payton said. Never. It's not like it's a lingering issue where it's an ankle where they tried to let him practice.
Worley (21): Has played in five games with one start.
The Carolina Panthers are on the road in NFL Football action on Sunday, taking on the New Orleans Saints.
Between that willingness to linger in the pocket and all the designed runs the Panthers call for him - far more than any other quarterback - Newton plays a risky brand of football. They were removed from the injury report Friday and are expected to play Sunday against Chicago (1-4).
Carolina has also listed wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, defensive end Charles Johnson, and running back Jonathan Stewart as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints. New Orleans has brought in veteran cornerbacks Sterling Moore and B.W. Webb since the regular season began. They share one thing in common this week. But Jordan said it is possible to just pin your ears back and rush him sometimes.
A lot of air time has been spent on sports talk shows the past two weeks speculating that the New Orleans Saints will see a more cautious version of Superman this Sunday.
