Bank executives have faced the wrath of U.S. Senate and House banking committees and investigators from the city of Los Angeles, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Wells Fargo community banking franchise, the bank's largest division and the business at the center of the scandal, had net income in the quarter of $3.23 billion compared with $3.56 billion in the same period a year earlier.
John Kasich on Friday criticized Wells Fargo as "compromised by greed", announcing that the state is suspending business with the bank for one year. The Company's Wholesale Banking segment provides a range of financial solutions to businesses across the United States and around the world. The company presently has an average rating of "Hold" and a consensus price target of $50.35.
JPMorgan Chase (JPM.N) and Citigroup (C.N) trounced third-quarter estimates on Friday on a sharp rebound in trading revenues while Wells Fargo & Co (WFC.N) barely beat expectations as a sales scandal engulfed the bank.
OH is not alone in their concerns that Sloan would be more of the same.
On Wednesday, Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf, 63, resigned amid mounting fallout over the scandal. "We do need still more details in order to get a sense of the true value of the stock going forward".
"We are beyond the point of tweaking".
Kasich said he may re-access the decision if the company makes progress in restoring a "culture of integrity".
Given that California is the nation's top issuer of municipal debt, their sanctions could cost the bank millions.

Sammy Solis replaced Gonzalez and quieted the crowd a bit when he got left fielder Howie Kendrick to ground out to second. Ryan Zimmerman then iced the game in the top of the ninth inning with a two-run double of off super closer Kenley Jansen.
Wells Fargo & Co. has a one year low of $43.55 and a one year high of $56.34.
"It wasn't generating revenue and it wasn't improving our bottom line so it didn't work for anybody", Shrewsberry said.
The numbers suggest Wells Fargo felt an immediate impact after the September 8 settlement. Wells Fargo's vision is to satisfy our customers' financial needs and help them succeed financially. They wrote, "Wells Fargo's practice of opening accounts in customers' names without their knowledge or approval is reprehensible, particularly in that it appears this strategy was not only condoned by management, but encouraged, " according to KIRO. Some customers were charged fees for these fraudulent accounts.
Chicago securities lawyer Andrew Stoltmann said he expects an investigation into the offload, saying the "optics (were) horrific for Stumpf and for Wells Fargo".
"That's not the kind of bank I want to do business with at this time", Councilman Alen Warren said earlier Thursday. Wells Fargo said it's working to contact those customers to check on the status.
Many eyes will be on Sloan as he handles the new parameters set forth by various governments.
The bank further stated that Stumpf "used shares he owned to pay the company the exercise price for the options exercised and the company withheld shares for taxes". There are calls from politicians for fraud charges against the bank.
The additional information didn't completely assuage analysts, though, who remained concerned about how the bank will contain the crisis.
