If the Cleveland Browns finish the 2016 season with the worst record in the National Football League and secure the top overall pick, they could select Myles Garrett.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns have an "astronomical grade" on Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett.
The Browns are still spending a lot of time scouting quarterbacks, but Garrett seems to be their man - at least this time.
It appears that the winless Browns, likely to be picking at No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, won't be taking a quarterback with the top pick. With one win and the 49ers continuing to lose, San Francisco would have the edge if both teams were to finish with one win.
Quake of magnitude 6.5 reported off coast of Northern California
A magnitude 6.5 quake struck about 100 miles off the Northern California coast on Thursday morning, according to the U.S. The quake was first reported with a 6.9 magnitude but downgraded to 6.5.
The 2017 NFL Draft starts on April 27.
Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com says Garrett is the best player in this draft class with his ability to impact the pocket from the edge. He threw four touchdown passes and no interceptions. That being said, Garrett recorded 12.5 sacks in 2015 and had at least one sack in eight of his 13 games.
The Browns may also trade for a quarterback, with the Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo rumored to be a potential target. The team acquired the Philadelphia Eagles' first-round pick in last year's trade for the No. 2 overall pick. For example, Browns scout Lake Dawson, a former wide receiver at Notre Dame, has extensively studied Fighting Irish quarterback DeShone Kizer this season.
