LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Louisville has suspended Lonnie Galloway for the Citrus Bowl following a review of how the co-offensive coordinator handled Wake Forest game plans he received from fired Demon Deacons broadcaster Tommy Elrod. He and Elrod were assistants at Wake Forest together from 2011-12.
"It is clear to me that the information should not have been shared by anyone at Wake Forest and it should not have been received by anyone at the University of Louisville". The information should not have been accepted.
Elrod was banned from all athletic facilities by the athletic department after Wake Forest announced its findings Tuesday.
"Louisville is an excellent football team, and it was a game we felt, in order to score points we had to have some wrinkles", Clawson said. "We found out what happened, we found out who did it, they're no longer part of our program and now we need to move forward and try to win a bowl game".
Louisville is getting ready for its appearance at the Citrus Bowl, but the latest fallout from the Wake Forest leaked playbook scandal has hit close to home with the suspension of the Cardinals' co-offensive coordinator Lonnie Galloway. That game was scoreless until Wake Forest won in double overtime, by the way.

"I've never experienced this level of betrayal in coaching", coach Dave Clawson said after his team's first practice since the school made public the results of a almost monthlong internal investigation into potential leaks of game plans. Jurich, who said he has been in contact with the Atlantic Coast Conference, said the school would accept any appropriate decisions from Commissioner John Swofford. When someone receives information they should not be given, it is important that they do the right thing. even in a competitive atmosphere, the right and ethical thing would have been for us to not accept the information.
Louisville will now go through preparations for LSU in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl and the game itself without Galloway. This is an unusual situation.
"The big thing is that (the players) were cheated - they were not given a fair chance to compete on multiple occasions, but there's nothing we can do about it", Clawson said. "I regret very much that this took place".
Virginia Tech joins Louisville and Army in acknowledging their involvement in the scandal in which former Wake Forest assistant Tommy Elrod was sacked as the analyst on Demon Deacons' radio game broadcasts after the school determined he leaked or attempted to leak game plans. Wake Forest's investigation was launched after a sheet featuring its plays was discovered during a November 11 walkthrough at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium one day before it played Louisville there.
