Pakistan today deployed extra police and paramilitary troops in Islamabad as the national capital was put on high alert ahead of a high-profile multi-nation regional economic summit on Wednesday.
In a statement issued here, he said ensuring foolproof security for eight heads of state and global delegates during their arrival, accommodation and transportation for one week in Pakistan was laudable.
A major highway leading to venue of the summit will also be closed.
Addressing the meeting, Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said the organization should invest more time and energy for implementation of ECO Vision 2025.
The advisor said there is need to increase the membership, scope and activities of ECO Trade and Development Bank as well as ECO Re-Insurance Company. Turkmenistan's leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow considered that ECO is important for constructive dialogue among member states.
The ECO secretary general thanked the prime minister for hosting the ECO summit and for the excellent arrangements. Malik said Ashraf Ghani did not attend the ECO Summit at the behest of India.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are full members of ECO.
He emphasized Pakistan's commitments to achieve the ECO objectives, as envisioned in the ECO Charter.
Prime Minister Sharif told Executive Vice Foreign Minister of China Yesui Zhang, who is visiting Islamabad for the summit, that plans for enhancing connectivity in the ECO region were "convergent with China's One-Belt-One-Road and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor initiative".
