Prosecutors said Hernandez opened fire on their auto because he felt disrespected when one of the men bumped into him and spilled his drink at a Boston nightclub.
Hernandez's lawyers told the jury that Hernandez's former friend, Alexander Bradley, shot the men during a dispute over a drug deal.
Although Hernandez was only convicted of carrying a gun-a.38 revolver, which, I repeat, did not kill those two men-he is already serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a 2015 murder that is very different from the double killing which-again-he did not commit with the gun he was convicted of carrying.
Hernandez has denied killing the men.
Aaron Hernandez, 27, couldn't hold back his emotions as he heard the jury's verdict on April 14. The defense hammered at Bradley's credibility, citing his immunity deal with prosecutors to testify against Hernandez, his role as the driver of the auto the night of the shootings and his criminal record.
Bradley testified that Hernandez became enraged after de Abreu bumped into him while dancing, spilling his drink at a Boston nightclub.
"What won this case was a dearth of evidence that connected Hernandez to these shootings", Ron Sullivan, a member of his defense team, told reporters after the verdicts.
Trump advisers: US seeks to fight IS and oust Syria's Assad
The reported investigation follows Moscow's condemnation of the U.S. missile strike on the Syrian airfield. She said late last month that "our priority is no longer to sit there and focus on getting Assad out".
Hernandez wept quietly in court after the jury announcement.
Hernandez denied killing them.
Hernandez was also acquitted Friday of shooting Bradley in the face months later to try to silence him as a witness. The entire Boston Police Department expresses our sincerest condolences to the families of the two victims, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, whose lives were lost in a senseless act of violence.
Hernandez was charged with shooting to death two officer cleaners, Daniel de Abreu, 29, and Safiro Furtado, 28, at a traffic light in the South End five years ago. He was not charged in the 2012 killings until 2014.
We deliberated for six days.
On Friday, the jury acquitted Hernandez on seven of eight charges after reportedly deliberating for 37 hours.
