Adam Schefter Tweeted yesterday evening that the Browns, according to one of his sources, have split opinions on who they want to take with the first pick between Garrett and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
Should Cleveland opt to not take a quarterback in a couple of weeks, 2018 could be their preference. I hear the big back out of LSU is increasingly being viewed as a best-of-breed player in this draft and a true blue chipper and he is being considered at the highest reaches of the first round. Taking it to the level Garrett did is not too common, and crosses into territory that is usually only approached by veterans with years of National Football League production under their belts.
And that tweet was nearly a month after Garrett suffered a nagging leg injury that hampered him the rest of the season. The Browns now hold 11 draft picks, including five of the first 65 selections.
"Everybody has their down years and at any time it can be turned around", Garrett said in March.
Garrett obliged, and he easily lifted Yates 25 times before he made a decision to stop, though it looked like he could've banged out at least 10 more reps if he'd wanted to. Whether it's the Browns or someone else, these interviews alone suggest they're going to get a competitor that knows a little bit about how to smile. Because of the comparisons to Von Miller, Garrett has become one of the more coveted prospects in recent memory. Garrett is a student of the game, and as such, says his favorite athlete is Deacon Jones - a Hall of Fame pass-rusher whose damage came before the sack was an official statistic. However, it goes without saying that the possibility of the Bears landing Garrett is undoubtedly welcome among all Bears fans.
Longoria breaks up Pineda's perfect-game bid in 7th
The Rays' first hit came on the 84th pitch of his outing and off the bat of Evan Longoria in the top of the seventh inning. Neither pitcher hurt their cause when they combined to strike out 11 batters against a Class-A team in Florida.
Former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, left, looks on during Texas A&M Pro Day at the NCAA football team's indoor training facility, Thursday, Match 30, 2017, in College Station, Texas.
"There has to be, " he said. Some people prefer their athletes stick to their given sport, but I like a player with personality.
Next stop? Cleveland, perhaps.
"I follow Texas A&M very closely, having worked with the SEC Network", McFarland said.
