China has been urging the North to stop its nuclear and missile development, and the US has urged China to use its leverage to resolve the nuclear standoff.

North Korea recently uncovered a "hideous terrorists' group" that the National Intelligence Service of South Korea, working with the CIA, had sent into the North on a secret mission to kill Kim with biochemical agents, said a spokesman for the North's Ministry of State Security.
The CIA declined to comment on the allegations. Pyongyang has made similar accusations in the past, none of which have been verified.
"Therefore, it is our determination to root up all the dens of plot and trick like Central Intelligence Agency and IS, the source of all evils in the world, and a series of more powerful our-style anti-terrorism striking actions will begin immediately", the ministry noted, calling the United States a "kingpin of terrorism and chieftain of plot". Allegedly, Kim had worked as a lumberjack in Russia's Khabarovsk region.
The ministry claimed that the "lethal results" of detonating a bomb packed with such substances would not take effect for six to 12 months.

North Korea's state publication, the Rodong Sinmun, also published a story Friday accusing China, and particularly state media outlets Global Times and The People's Daily, of agitating for war against North Korea to appease the United States.
