The Coast Guard is a division of the Department of Homeland Security.
Amash's strong stance on the situation is usurprising as he was one of just two Republican congressman who supported a Democratic bill calling for an independent investigation to be formed to investigate Trump's Russian ties. But he complained bitterly that about criticism of his still-young presidency.
Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-Alabama, said, "At this point, I have not seen anything that is that alarming". "I hope you can let this go". So I'm working on making sure that we make good on our promises and fix people's problems. Don't give in, don't back down.
The news conference had been originally scheduled to discuss the Republican agenda on Capitol Hill. "Suggesting it should wind down because you're anxious about where it may lead is very different". But whether that's the tip of a grossly unconstitutional iceberg or just the strangest bunch of coincidences ever, we need to get to the bottom of the money pit through investigations beyond the reach of Trump's machinations.
"There's clearly a lot of politics being played", House Speaker Paul Ryan said before the announcement of Mueller's appointment.
"That is our job, to be sober, to be passionate and to follow the facts wherever they may lead", he said.
Russian president Vladimir Putin offered on Wednesday to release notes of Donald Trump's discussions with Russian diplomats last week during which the U.S. president is accused of revealing classified information.
The latest exchanges are another reminder of how links between Mr Trump's team and Russian officials have cast a long shadow over this White House. Comey is known to be a pretty meticulous keeper of notes, and CNN's Jake Tapper reported that Comey kept extensive notes of his conversations with Trump for the precise reason that they made him uneasy - presumably because of Trump making requests such as the Flynn one that crossed a line for Comey.

D Trevor Daley is out for Game 3 against the Senators after missing the past four games. The 39-year-old took reps on the club's first power play unit on Wednesday morning.
But of course, also with the understanding that if Comey pushed to prosecute Flynn, the president - who had the power to fire Comey - was going to be very unhappy.
Some House Democrats have joined in as well in recent days following Trump's firing of Comey last week.
Both allegations came from anonymous sources, and the White House was quick to denounce the leaks and deny any impropriety, insisting the president never tried to squelch the Flynn investigation nor did he make inappropriate disclosures to the Russians.
Still, there's also a witness: Comey.
Representative Jason Chaffetz, Republican chair of the House oversight committee, sent a letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday requesting that it turn over all documents and recordings that detail communications between Comey and Trump.
The Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Jason Chaffetz, has said he will ask Mr Comey to testify next week.
As for Comey, the FBI director wrote in a memo after a February meeting at the White House that the new president had asked him to shut down the FBI's investigation of Flynn and his Russian contacts, said a person who claimed to have read the memo.
"If the US administration finds it possible, we are ready to provide a recording of the conversation between Lavrov and Trump to the US Congress and Senate", Putin said during a press conference. They expect to bring in Comey in to testify, as well.
