Apple has confirmed that its iOS 11 operating system, launched at WWDC on Monday, won't be available for the iPhone 5, iPhone 5C or iPad 4 when it rolls out later this year. Adding OneDrive to Files will make it a first class citizen on iOS devices, and the iPad in particular, where productivity scenarios, including split screen views, are more likely.
Apple's move follows a lawsuit filed by a family in December 2016, after their 5-year-old daughter was killed by a distracted driver allegedly using the FaceTime video chat feature. He also said that when he travels, he takes only an iPhone and an iPad Pro, not a Mac. Now, developer preview testers are highlighting new features that they have stumbled upon while using unstable iOS 11. It also supports tags and third-party storage providers like Google Drive.
Of the new features, the Do Not Disturb while driving features has been designed "to help users stay more focused on the road". There are tons of nifty new features baked into iOS 11, such as a completely redesigned Messages app, a brand new App Store, and a more versatile Control Center that can be customized by the user. When the iPhone is brought closer to the connected iPad (without even touching it), a prompt will indicate on the iPad that an iPhone wants to connect to the WiFi network.
