The former president's motorcade was seen passing by Portage and Main on the way to the St. Boniface Hospital.

Carter, who served from 1977 to 1981 as the 39th U.S. president, has been in remission from cancer since undergoing surgery in 2015 to remove a small mass on his liver. He is not the only former president to be hospitalized recently.
Carter had been volunteering with a project to build 150 homes in cities throughout Canada with Habitat for Humanity. However, at the age of 92, he still amazes those around him with his level of activity as he picks up a hammer to help with builds, as well as continuing to teach Sunday School in his hometown of Plains, Ga.
