The fracas Thursday ignited in the sixth inning when Kahnle threw a ball behind Cabrera, resulting in Kahnle and Girardi being ejected.

The bench-clearing fistfight began when Tigers star Miguel Cabrera clashed with Yankees catcher Austin Romine, first shoving him and then aiming punches. There are definitely two sides to the issue, but it's hard to find any baseball fans willing to excuse Cabrera's actions that ended up escalating an already tense situation between the two teams.
The shenanigans lasted the rest of the game, with numerous plunkings and six total ejections. Cabrera pushed Romine and followed that up with a left hand to Romine's face.
