Islamic State (ISIS) asked and was allowed to withdraw from the Syrian-Lebanon border area in the Qalamoun region, an official in Syrian President Bashar Assad's military alliance said.
The Lebanese army, which announced the cease-fire in a statement, said the truce had been meant to allow negotiations for the recovery of its missing soldiers.
In a coordinated move, both Hezbollah and the Lebanese army have declared a cease-fire in their fight against ISIS in western Syria on the Lebanese border.
Hezbollah, however, said that fighters from the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, had surrendered, had turned over the bodies of two Hezbollah combatants and had agreed to help determine what had happened to a number of missing Lebanese army troops.
The armed forces launched their campaign against ISIS militants entrenched in the mountainous Jurud Ras Baalbek and Jurud al-Qaa areas on Lebanon's eastern border on August 19.
It came as the Syrian government said it had reached a surrender deal with ISIL fighters on its side of the border.

The 9 Lebanese soldiers have been missing since August 2014, when ISIS and then Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front briefly overran Arsal, a town on Lebanon's restive eastern border with Syria. They did not confirm whether they have defeated the so called Islamic State.
But any coordination between the Lebanese army and either the Syrian army or Hizballah would be politically sensitive in Lebanon and could jeopardise the sizeable U.S. military aid the country receives.
