Oscar Pistorius is reportedly rushed to hospital in South Africa after suffering a suspected heart attack in prison.
The athlete was sentenced to six years in prison in July last year after being found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine's Day 2013 [nL8N19S0Y7].
According to The Citizen, the 30-year-old was taken to Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria, which is located outside the prison.
The short statement did not specify the details of the medical examination and said Pistorius was expected back at the correctional facility later on Thursday. Pistorius had said that he thought she was an intruder and that he feared for his life.
Further information received was that Pistorius was treated by medical personnel at the hospital's prison ward and discharged at around 2pm.
Pistorius initially began serving his prison sentence at Kgosi Mampuru II, but was later moved to Atteridgeville since that prison is better equipped to handle prisoners with disabilities.
'GTA gang' members killed in shootout in Moscow court
Three defendants have been shot dead after reportedly trying to grab guns from guards during a trial at Moscow Regional Court . Three of the assailants were killed and the two others were wounded and recaptured, officials said.
Pistorius is doing six years for killing partner Reeva Steenkamp.
He reached the pinnacle of his fame in 2012 when he became the first double amputee to run in the Olympics, making the 400 metres semi-finals in London before taking two golds in the Paralympics.
The chest pain episode now marks the second time that Pistorius has had to leave jail for treatment.
His trial became the subject of widespread worldwide attention, as he was initially cleared of murder in favour of a manslaughter charge - then convicted of murder on appeal in 2016.
It is the same hospital where he was treated for injuries to his wrists previous year, according to Rekord East.
Pistorius' family spokeswoman was not immediately available to comment.
