The Wolverines led just 17-7 at the break and Cincinnati closed the gap to 17-14 at one point in the third before Michigan's depth won over. The other two phases are a work in progress as well, especially the offense.
Cincinnati plays Miami University (Ohio) in their next game. The Wolverines passing game gave reason for concern, because once again running back Ty Isaac was outstanding.
John Kelly ran for 80 yards and caught five passes for 60 yards to lead the Volunteers (2-0) in rushing and receiving.
