The chairmen of two House committees announced Tuesday that they have opened a joint investigation into decisions made by the Justice Department while it was investigating Hillary Clinton. "We're not going to jump to any conclusions at this time".
The panel's top Democrat spoke out against the uranium probe Tuesday, describing it as a "coordinated distraction" from the Russian Federation interference in the 2016 election, a subject the panel is investigating.
Nunes announced his new probe days after Fusion GPS - the firm behind the explosive Steele dossier - accused him of going back on his April decision to step away from the Russian Federation investigation. "Me and President Obama, we are the ones they like to put in the crosshairs", Clinton said.
Both of those matters have drawn the public interest of President Donald Trump, who sternly criticized the news media last week for not asking more questions about the Uranium One story.
The first point, for example, draws a comparison between the FBI's extremely assertive updates to Congress regarding the Clinton affair and its relative silence about its investigation into the Trump campaign's alleged ties to Russian Federation.
Knife-wielding Man Wounds Several People in Munich
A spokesman for the local police Gloria Martins said, according to witnesses, the arrested man is very similar to the attacker. The police department said on Twitter that officers are looking for the assailant "with all available police forces".
In 2010, a Canadian company called Uranium One, which had mining stakes around the world, was bought by Rosatom, a state-owned Russian corporation, giving Rosatom oversight of one-fifth of US uranium production.
The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) approved the deal, and Russian Federation later took over Uranium One.
The line of attack was renewed recently after the Hill reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had found "substantial evidence" that Russian officials engaged in "bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering created to grow Vladimir Putin's atomic energy business inside the United States" before the Obama administration gave the deal the go-ahead. But that effort went far, far beyond any schemes to help elect Donald Trump president.
According to Nunes, the new House probe seeks to learn a few things: "Whether or not there was an FBI investigation: Was there a DOJ investigation?"
"Well, the current Russian Federation investigation is about the election".
"He now is somebody who wants to come forward and tell what he knows about that investigation", DeSantis says.
