Trump ran an outsider's campaign and is at odds with many of Pence's socially conservative views. During a meeting with an unidentified legal scholar, the scholar told Trump that if the Supreme Court were to overturn Roe v. Wade, most states in the USA would legalize abortion anyway.
"You see? You've wasted all this time and energy on it, and it's not going to end abortion anyway."
The revelation of the latest shocking statement from the president drew a swift, horrified response from a number of artists and human rights organizations.
The staff member, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Meyer, said that President Trump, on at least one occasion mocked Pence's religious ideologies, by asking those who had recently spoke to Pence if he had "made them pray".
When Pence was governor of IN, he signed a religious freedom law that would allow business owners to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people if they felt like their faith was somehow being compromised.

The scholar said that if Pence succeeded, many states would probably legalise abortion on their own.
In particular, Pence's longstanding connection to libertarian megadonors Charles and David Koch - former political enemies of Trump - has helped shape the current White House. In the early '90s, he joined the Indiana Family Institute, a group that supported criminalizing abortion and campaigned against equal rights for gays.
