With so many fires, residents of Sonoma County struggled to figure out what roads to take, finding downed trees or flames blocking some routes.
Multiple wildfires fanned by strong winds Sunday night have forced hundreds of evacuations in Soda Canyon/Atlas Peak and Partrick Road areas of Napa and in Calistoga.
After evacuating the house, which sits at the dead end of a one-lane road in rural Napa County, she and her family watched from a distance as a propane tank exploded and their home's roof caught fire.
Officials said Monday at least 1,500 homes and buildings have been destroyed and that about 20,000 people have been evacuated from 14 large fires, including more than 80 patients in a Santa Rosa hospital.
