Formerly a top executive at her family's company in NY and now a White House adviser, Ivanka Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, and the Indian government pulled out all the stops before her arrival, according to NBC News.
The three-day event, being co-hosted here by the U.S. and India, is being attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors and eco-system supporters from 159 countries. "It is a symbol of the strengthened friendship between our two peoples, and the growing economic and security partnership between our two nations", Trump said in her address at the inaugural session of the GES.
Trump's visit was treated like a royal affair in India, and Hyderabad prepped for her by cleaning up its streets, banning begging and shuffling thousands of street people into shelters or rehab. She felt that women are more likely than men to hire other women, and are also more likely to reinvest their income back in their families and communities.
"When Ivanka Trump said that India had lifted 130 million people out of poverty she was referring to the UPA government's period of 2004 to 2014 (the number was 140 million)", he said in a tweet.
"We must ensure women entrepreneurs have access to capital, access to networks and mentors, and access to equitable laws", she said. In many countries, women are not allowed to own property, travel freely or work without the consent of their husbands, Trump said.
Schiano to be named Tennessee Vols Head Coach
The Scarlet Knights made six bowl appearances under Schiano. But now it appears the Volunteers have settled on Schiano. Now he'll try his hand against a new Volunteers head man.
In her speech, Trump listed out initiatives by the United States administration to promote women in business.
Ivanka Trump, a woman entrepreneur herself, said she was excited to see so many women entrepreneurs under one roof.
"Our administration is committed to empowering women entrepreneurs through domestic reforms", she said.
Trump, who is leading the USA delegation to the conference, said, "Here in India I want to applaud Prime Minister Modi for his firm belief that progress of humanity is incomplete without the empowerment of women".
"You are rewriting the rules", she said and went on to talk about this year's GES theme.
But she was a good soldier in India.
