Moreover, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity is a poison pill, and adding it to the "Fix NICS Act" imperils the best chance we've had of passing common sense gun safety legislation in a decade.
Two things need to be noted here.
The bill, H.R. 38, will allow Americans who legally hide carry firearms to do so in other states.
"This unsafe legislation would allow gun owners to bring their guns into Boston unchecked and concealed at a time when my officers are working tirelessly to keep guns and the damage and devastation they cause out of our city", Evans said in the statement. Additionally, it puts the burden of proof on the state to show an individual carrying a concealed firearm violated the law, protecting law-abiding gun owners from civil lawsuits.
Congress should reject Concealed Carry Reciprocity, and pass a clean "Fix NICS Act", which has won wide bipartisan support, will improve reporting of risky people to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, and will improve safety of communities across the country.
Ernst: greater lobbying needed on renewable fuel levels
This has been a tumultuous year for the biofuels industry, and for Midwest Republicans who backed President Donald Trump. Next year's blending requirement for corn ethanol, a starch-based biofuel, was set at 15 billion gallons.
Under the broad strokes of the House-passed Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, having a concealed-carry permit issued by one state makes it legal to carry in any state.
"This section shall not be construed to supersede or limit the laws of any state that permit private persons or entities to prohibit or restrict the possession of concealed firearms on their property, or prohibit or restrict the possession of firearms on any state or local government property, installation, building, base, or park". "The Congressman voted to make the job of our law enforcement agencies more hard and to allow untrained and potentially unsafe individuals to carry concealed weapons in New Jersey". Many rural states have lax concealed-carry requirements that do not require specific training or a clean criminal record.
Gun control has long generated heated debate, and the controversies surrounding restrictions have only accelerated with the growing number of mass shootings across the country.
"This legislation would let individuals from out of state convicted of certain crimes carry hidden, loaded weapons in NY, in violation of New York's much better, safer law", Cuomo said in a statement.
But before the proposal could pass the House, Republicans chose to add something to it.
The NRA awarded Rep. DesJarlais an "A" grade for his work to protect Americans' gun rights. Instead, we have the highest rate of gun deaths.
