Debate appears likely to topple 36-year ratings record

For better or worse, Donald Trump has built quite the reputation for pulling in ratings-be it for Saturday Night Live, cable news, or network late night.
Trump also celebrated success, a post from Trump's Twitter account read, "Such a great honor".
Clinton apologized for setting up the server and said it was a mistake she would not repeat.
Trump remains the only presidential nominee in the past four decades not to release his tax returns, meaning voters have no way to determine with precision how he derives his income, what sorts of deductions and credits he claims, and how much money, if any, he donates to charity.
Months before he officially began his presidential run past year, Trump promised on conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt's program that he would release his tax returns.
(Clinton) "That if I'm asking for your vote, I should tell you what I want to do". "For 40 years, everyone running for president has released their tax returns". "I got a letter from the N.F.L. saying, 'This is ridiculous.'" The N.F.L. quickly denied the existence of any such letter, but the organization might have cause for complaint: according to CNN, the first bout between Clinton and Trump was the most watched in USA history, pulling in well over 80 million viewers.
Clinton said the real-estate tycoon "talks down America every chance he gets".

Asked if she is concerned that Trump might not show up for the next debates, Clinton said she would anyway appear there.
The New York real estate mogul, she said, "was making charges and claims that were demonstrably untrue, offering opinions that I think a lot of people would find offensive and off-putting".
Henson said neither candidate said or did anything to hurt their standing among current supporters. But for this week, at least, the famed Trump Bump seems to have backfired on Donald.
Most national polls show Clinton and Trump in a dead heat nationwide and in swing states.
The centerpiece of Trump's case against Clinton is that the former senator and secretary of state is little more than a career politician who has squandered opportunities to address the domestic and global problems she's now pledging to tackle as president.
The Republican Party of Texas did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday. Monday's debate was the first of three between the presidential candidates before the November 8 election.
Clinton and Trump are slated to face each again on October 9 in St. Louis.
