Officials search for man who shot Spotsylvania Co. K-9

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office says before the K9 went into surgery Monday morning, he was alert and able to walk on his own.
A Spotsylvania K-9 was released to chase the suspect.
The suspect wanted in the shooting of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's K-9 shooting and attempted capital murder of deputies, was captured and taken into custody Monday night in Richmond, according to Captain Jeffery Pearce with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
Spotsylvania deputies tried to stop a auto Conway was riding in at the Sheets on Lafeyette Boulevard for a minor infraction around 9:10 p.m. Sunday. One of the shots struck the dog, Dux, who was taken for emergency treatment after the incident.
Officials said the driver was wanted on numerous felony warrants out of Fredericksburg. The driver was taken into custody without incident, but the passenger, later identified as Conway, exited the auto, got into a fight with a deputy and fled the scene.

In fact, in Fauquier County, a recent grant from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a nonprofit charity in East Taunton, Massachusetts, has made the streets somewhat safer for sheriff's office police dogs Dazee, Zar and Bane.
Joseph Conway, 34, of King George County, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped about 9:10 p.m. for a "minor infraction", according to Sheriff's Office spokesperson Capt. Jeff Pearce. Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Pearce alleged that the suspect turned and began shooting at the dog and the deputies. He was taken into custody without incident.
The passenger in the auto, Joseph Conway, 34, of King George County got out of the vehicle and got into a fight with the deputy. Pearce said police are urging residents not to confront the man, who police say is considered "armed and very unsafe". Deputies fired shots back, but Conway ran into a nearby neighborhood. It is not clear if Conway was injured in the exchange.
