Two tornadoes rip through Oregon Coast

A pair of tornadoes touched down along coastal OR on Friday as powerful storms moved through the northwestern US, flooding streets in Portland and leaving thousands without power - and forecasters say more powerful storms could occur Saturday. The NWS Portland previously had never issued more than three tornado warnings in a day.
There have been no reports of injury or death in the wake of this tornado.
The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office reports that about two blocks of downtown were hit by the tornado. He says other homes have roof damage.
Extra staff have been sent to the area to do welfare checks, along with one ambulance. The newspaper said Mayor Garry Bullard had declared a state of emergency.
Officials say a 4-year-old boy and his father have been injured by a falling tree branch in West Seattle.
The American Red Cross has opened a shelter at Calvary Bible Church in Manzanita for people in need of assistance.
Social media photos and videos show a funnel cloud that started over the Pacific and then came shore into town.

The heavy rain created risky conditions for the morning commute, as drivers tried to see out rain-pounded windshields and navigate through standing water on the roads. At one point Friday 15,000 customers were without power in Seattle.
Tillamook PUD reported that 1,800 customers lost power in Manzanita and another 1,000 near the Bayside Gardens and Necarney City.
Portland had the rainiest October 13 in its history.
Meteorologists expect a lull before the remnants of Typhoon Songda, which wreaked havoc in the western Pacific days ago, hit the Pacific Northwest on Saturday.
