The LG V20 sports a 5.7-inch QHD display, while the secondary "ticker" display is placed above it, and functions as a separate panel.
While it's a relief to know that the hardware issues that came with modularity wouldn't be plaguing the promising LG V10 successor, the recurring headache for most LG smartphone users are boot loops. LG has introduced this smartphone today, as a successor to the LG V10 which was introduced previous year.
The V20 doesn't represent a radical new approach to the smartphone, like the modular LG G5 and Lenovo Group Ltd.'s Moto Z line.
The LG V20 will be the very first Android smartphone to come running on the new Android 7.0 Nougat.
Above the primary display, there's a 160 x 1040 pixel screen that can display notifications and app shortcuts.

Like all recent LG phones, the power button is on the rear and integrates a fingerprint sensor. That phone had two 5-megapixel cameras on the front, one standard angle and one wide angle. It supports all kinds of lossless formats, including FLAC, AIFF and Apple Lossless. The V20 is supposed to have a souped-up phone, a removable metal back and sharp display. For starters, LG claims its 24-bit/192kHz audio recorder promises 6.5x more accurate sound than 16-bit alternatives.
Beyond that, three microphones on the V20 help with audio capture when you're shooting video in loud environments. Nor does it have a stylus like Samsung's recently recalled Galaxy Note 7 handset.
When it comes to pricing, Overseas Electronics lists the dual-SIM LG V20 with a price tag of $799.99 unlocked and even allows users to add the device to their shopping cart and make the purchase. The rendered photos from CNET Korea give everyone a glimpse of how the V20 will possibly look like.
The V20 will go on sale in Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore later this month, and in the USA and other countries later this year.
"The LG V20 is created to offer customers a more dynamic experience by building on the most popular video and audio features of the V series", said Juno Cho, president of LG's mobile communications division, in the statement.
